Last week, police announced that they had seized nearly $1 million worth of marijuana from a grow house operation Hidden Hills. According to reports, law enforcement officials discovered approximately 1,000 plants, 40 pounds of processed marijuana, and a .40-caliber Beretta handgun at the home.

Two men – 54-year-old Robert Larue and 50-year-old Mauricio Lara – were arrested for the operation. Larue was released after posting $100,000 bond and Lara remains in custody on an immigration hold. Larue and Lara allegedly set up dozens of high-intensity grow lamps in the house and powered them with a stolen electricity line.

Although some people may perceive California as having a lax attitude toward the enforcement of marijuana laws, law enforcement regularly conducts busts such as these. Depending on the circumstances, a conviction for the cultivation of marijuana can bring hefty fines and even serious prison time. Under these circumstances, skilled legal representation can make all the difference.
