Porn star Jenna Jameson is believed to have begun her Memorial Day celebrations early. Authorities arrested the star in the early hours of the morning in Orange County after the vehicle she was driving hit a light pole.

Law enforcement responding to the scene had Jameson perform field sobriety tests on the scene and arrested her afterward. She was charged with misdemeanor suspicion of driving under the influence, otherwise known as DUI. TMZ, which broke the story, did not have any information about whether this was Jameson’s first DUI offense or not.

Jameson apparently refused medical treatment, despite having what law enforcement officials described as minor injuries. After being brought into custody, Jameson was subsequently released.

Individuals Face Steep Consequences, Even For Misdemeanor Charges

An individuals’ first DUI charge is typically charged as a misdemeanor unless other aggravating circumstances are present. Even though charges are not gross misdemeanor or felony, the charges are still serious and an individual should get help from an experienced defense attorney.

The consequences for being convicted of a drinking and driving charge extend beyond the fines, suspended license and increased insurance costs, which are harsh enough. But they also place an individual’s future in jeopardy. If the individual is ever arrested again for an alcohol-related offense, the penalties will be much more severe.

Fighting a DUI Charge

Aggressive representation is important when defending oneself against a DUI charge. Attorneys in Los Angeles may investigate a number of factors to determine whether there was a problem with the field sobriety test and the arrest. An experienced DUI attorney can make a real difference in the outcome.
